Uhuru struggled
to get a flight to India because getting a seat was a problematic affair. When
she finally did get a flight, she was offered non-vegetarian meals and even
though the air hostesses smiled incessantly, Uhuru was irritated at the lack of
information given about delays.

Uhuru arrived in
India to very hot conditions that she was not used to. Uhuru had read that the heat
starts to build up on the plains of India from around February and by May it
becomes unbearable. “I swear, every time I move, I perspire. I just hope I get
used to this weather soon, very soon” Uhuru thought as she struggled with the
climate conditions.
She called Paavai
to let her know about her arrival. Paavai suggested she takes a taxi to Delhi,
where Maran’s family was living. Delhi was 13 km from the airport. For Uhuru it
was the longest 13km she had ever experienced on the road. She spent most of the time in the taxi
bewildered yet pleasantly surprised at what she saw around her.
